HMO plans offer network based coverage, which have contracted medical providers. PPO plans offer coverage outside the network area, often at higher co-pays, & deductibles. In many cases, your Part D (Prescription Drug coverage) is included in your advantage program. This plan would be referred to a Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug (MAPD) plan.

Other benefits that may be included in a MAPD plan, such as preventative dental, eye glasses, hearing aids, transportation to and from an office visit, & Silver Sneakers gym membership, are not provided in original Medicare or a Medicare supplement.
To be eligible for a MAPD, you must have Parts A&B of Medicare, your residence must be in the servicing area and you cannot have end stage renal disease (ESRD).
